Farm
Worker HousingOur original mission 35 years ago was to
provide adequate housing for migrant farm workers in rural Colorado. CRHDC has
developed more than 600 affordable housing units for farm worker families. One
notable trend at the properties is lower than average vacancy rates. This trend
indicates that families are staying longer and not constantly moving from city
to city, making communities and families more stable.
Our farm worker housing communities include:

Tierra Nueva, in Center, Colo.
The San Luis Valley Farm workers Housing
corporation contracted with CRHDC to develop the Tierra Nueva complex.
Currently, the development houses 216 individual units and 25 family units and
rents are based on 30% of the family's seasonal income. The complex includes a
community center, a restaurant, and the Migrant Head Start Center; the first
daycare facility available in Saguache County.

Plaza Del Milagro in Greeley, Colo.
This forty-unit development was
completed in 2001. Developed by CRHDC and operated by Catholic Charities, the
development provides 87 farm worker families with shelter and quality child-care
to 130 children.
Olathe Pueblito del Paiz Dormitory in Olathe, Colo.
This 72 bed
dormitory has a full service kitchen and community center. Also, for families,
there are 24 single housing units.
Don Carlos Ranchon in Boone, Colo.
This farm worker rental project
will consist of 30 family units and a community center. Rents will be based on
30% of the tenants' monthly adjusted income.

Tierra Nueva in Alamosa, Colo.
This newly built farm worker housing
complex will house 37 farm worker families. The units are three or four bedrooms
with 1&1/2 to 2 baths. The rent is based on 30% of a farm worker's adjusted
income. There is a community center that will eventually have a day care center,
and will offer a variety of classes such as language courses, parenting classes
and education credits.
