Thirty-five years ago,
CRHDC was the first organization to bring this concept to Colorado. To date,
more than 1,500 Colorado families have built their own home through this
program which allows individuals who can’t purchase a home through
conventional methods to become part of the building process in order to make
the purchase price affordable. On average, families work 1,000+ labor hours
over 7 – 8 months to build their home and they help their neighbors build
their homes.
Our Self-help housing
communities are in Alamosa,
Monte Vista, Trinidad, and
the town of San Luis. New self-help communities are currently being
built in Antonito and La Jara. (Web designer note: each city underlined will
be a link that will link to a page w/ photos of the various communities).
