The City View Heights community in Trinidad, Colo. has 18 self-help homes.

The City of Trinidad's population of more than 9,000 is a diversified ethnic population that immigrated to the area to work in the coal mines. Work force housing is in high demand and in 2002 CRHDC expanded its Self Help Program to Trinidad to provide affordable housing opportunities to working families.

To date, 18 self-help homes have been built and CRHDC is continuing to seek interested families and individuals to take advantage of this opportunity.

For more information contact Rita Johnson at 719-589-1680.

"Thank you for helping us achieve our 'dream home' through the self help program. The work was hard and demanding, but the end result is that our family now has a beautiful home that our children can be proud of. We encourage other families to take advantage of this opportunity. This program was our only hope of being able to own a home." -New homeowners, Richard, Joanne and Family
