Our Communities

At CRHDC, we build communities. Whether it is rental housing or homeownership, our communities are an excellent model of people working together to reach their dreams.

Self-help housing:
Thirty-five years ago, CRHDC was the first organization to bring this concept to Colorado. To date, more than 1,500 Colorado families have built their own home though this program which allows individuals who can't purchase a home though conventional methods to become part of the building process in order to make the purchase price affordable. On average, families work 1,000+ labor hours over 7-8 months to build their home and they help their neighbors build their homes.

Our Self-help housing communities are in Alamosa, Monte Vista, Trinidad, and the town of San Luis. New self-help communities are currently being built in Antonito and La Jara.

Multi-family rental housing is a step to helping families achieve their personal goals. Today, CRHDC owns 143 units of affordable rental housing, including:

Senior/Disabled Housing:

La Hacienda in Del Norte, Colo.

Casas del Rio Grande, Del Norte, Colo.

Castle Valley Ranch Senior Housing, New Castle, Colo.

Affordable Rentals for Families:

Vista Verde I Townhomes, Hayden, Colo.

        Royalty Manor Apartments, Fountain, Colo.
