Our Communities
At CRHDC, we build communities. Whether it is rental
housing or homeownership, our communities are an excellent model of
people working together to reach their dreams.Self-help housing:
Thirty-five years ago, CRHDC was the first organization to bring this concept
to Colorado. To date, more than 1,500 Colorado families have built their own
home though this program which allows individuals who can't purchase a home
though conventional methods to become part of the building process in order to
make the purchase price affordable. On average, families work 1,000+ labor hours
over 7-8 months to build their home and they help their neighbors build their
homes.
Our Self-help housing communities are in Alamosa,
Monte Vista, Trinidad, and
the town of San Luis. New self-help communities are currently being built in
Antonito and La Jara.
Multi-family rental housing is a step to helping families achieve their personal
goals. Today, CRHDC owns 143 units of affordable rental housing, including:
